I love this take on a fence.

Many of the older homes in the area I grew up in have lion statues that flank the entry ways to their porch. I love the idea of lions outside the home, they add such an interesting element to the exterior. Here are some pictures from around the web of lion statues.



The houses in my neighborhood would always decorate their lions for the holidays. Wreaths in December and pumpkins under the raised paws in October.








While we are on the topic of statues, here is one of my parents neighbors newest. It kind of creeps me out...

For the last couple of years I have been dying to get a good house plant. I have tried cacti and other miscellaneous house plants with little success. Partially because my cats tend to chew the plants and partially because I have no east or west windows to get good light. Regardless of this fact I want to try again because I love plants and because I have read that they warm a room up. That should help with staging a house, right? Enjoy some house plant inspiration.

I love how many containers this garden uses, it gives me hope for my container garden.

I am starting to make plans for my container garden this year. I started looking for inspiration and I think I have come up with a few ideas. The first being that I want to add more color to my pots and a better selection of sizes and textures.

One thing I loved about this picture was the miniature trees flanking the entry to the stairs.

I like the idea of having at least one pot that contains only greenery.

This picture gives me spring fever. I can't wait for the nights that can be spent outside on the patio.

This picture is mostly for archiving purposes, I like the pool. More specifically, I like the stone border around the pool and the lack of concrete.

Once upon a time I dreamed of becoming a landscape architect, my parents even bought a landscape computer program so I could make digitalized gardens to my heart's content. One thing I look forward to is having a garden of my own, doesn't that sound like fun? Container gardening just doesn't give off the same satisfaction. I think when I do have my own garden I would like to flank the entry way with flowers.

I love these two alternatives to cement walk ways.

My husband gave me a beautiful mini rose plant for Valentine's day. Unfortunately I don't think it is going to make it till spring, I don't think they were made to be an indoor plant, or at least an low sunlight indoor plant. I found these two plants which will supposedly thrive under those conditions. I might be making a trip to the plant store soon

P.S. Trees in the house- a do or a don't?

This year I want to start seeds indoors and then transfer them outdoors. I have been doing some preliminary research, one question I have is, do I really need heat lamps? Has anyone ever started seed indoors before? Do you have any advice or tips?
